There are several questions you, as a host, may want to ask potential guests to establish expectations and ensure a positive booking experience. Here are six questions a host should ask when someone is interested in booking space.

1. Why are you interested in this space?

This is an important question to ask to determine if your space is a good fit for a potential guest. You may find that a guest is interested in booking your space for an activity you are not comfortable with, or don’t feel is right for the space. It’s best to let a potential guest know this early on in your conversations.

2. What is your estimated guest count?

This is a great way to remind a guest of your maximum capacity.

3. How much time do you need for set-up and clean-up?

Set up and clean up time should be included in the booking time. This is the opportunity to remind guests to account for these hours when booking your space.

4. Do you have any questions about the rules for our listing?

Asking this question gently reminds guests to look at any rules you may have about using your space and makes sure there is no conflict the day of.

5. How many vehicles will be on-site?

If your building has limited parking spaces available, this is the time to let guests know, and provide some guidance on additional parking areas nearby or rideshare options.

6. Is there anything else I can help with?

Whether it’s directions to your space, or recommendations for lunch nearby, putting in the extra effort to make sure your guests are happy can increase the likelihood of future bookings or a positive review.
